Dr. Mona Lissa Chanda
Mona Lisa Chanda was born in Northern Quebec to a German mother and an East Indian father. She earned her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from McGill University in 2009, where she specialized in the study of chronic pain. She subsequently worked in the Music Perception, Cognition and Expertise laboratory of Dr. Daniel J. Levitin—New York Times best-selling author of “This Is Your Brain On Music”. Together with Dr. Levitin, she ublished groundbreaking research findings on the neurochemistry of music, and went on to receive international press coverage from CBC Health and Newsweek.
Mona Lisa has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. She was first introduced to yoga through the teachings of Montreal-based Ashtanga instructor, Mark Darby (a student of the late Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois). In 2013, she obtained her certification as a Hatha Yoga instructor under the mentorship of Dr. Mandan Bali, a renowned Vedanta scholar with a doctorat in Complimentary Medicine.
Mona Lisa combines cutting edge scientific research into stress and pain management with the age-old wisdom of traditional yoga and mindfulness meditation. Wendy is a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader and Certified Laughercize Party and Workshop Leader, the creator of Laughter 101: No Joke(s)! - a four-week course designed to use laughter as a health and wellness tool, and co-facilitator of Living Laughter’s two-day Laughter Yoga Leader Certification training. Wendy discovered the benefits of laughter several years ago while recuperating from an illness, and has never looked back. She is a full believer in the benefits of laughter, has integrated into her daily life, and has made it her mission to share it with anyone who is prepared to give it a try. Marine Buton is an actress and violinist and recently completed a 200 hours wanderlust yoga teacher training. Her practice and teaching consists mostly of a vinyasa based approach. Linking the breath to movement to create a moving meditation. Always trying to find a balance between and effort and ease, Marine tries to create fun, smart and creative sequences.
Nadine is a citified GROOVE Facilitator and an Ambassador Nadine Joy have enjoyed organizing Groove classes and observing the experience of the participants. In this capacity. The GROOVE is an easy, fun and energizing personal and physical DANCE floorexperience as it allows one’s body to move one’s own way. The GROOVE classes are unique because it provides a safe space which is free of judgement allowing for self- expression, exploration and a path to become in tune with one’s own body. Frankly, GROOVE is just people coming together and dancing their hearts out! Nadine has enhanced her development by attending various GROOVE trainings and workshops such as GROOVin’ the Curriculum, GROOVE for Kids and The GROOVE Designer training. She is also a Concordia graduate and is also a certified Laughter Yoga Leader and Reiki student.
Andy has always been fascinated with alternative medicine and martial arts. Andy is a naturopath and has been working as consultant. His offering his expertise and wisdom to guide via naturopathic principles, Chinese medicine and herbalism. For the past 15 years he has deeply embedded himself in meditation and has tried his hand at various martial arts, including Judo, Karate, Kung Fu and Tai Chi. Andy is a certified instractor of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. His conscientious learning style from his many years as a naturopath and his highly technical abilities in martial arts make Andy a unique instructor. His sincere desire is to share the beauty and wisdom of these age old arts with as many people as he can, so that they may be graced with improved physical and mental well-being.
Jacqueline Powell (Jahqueen Mentu Hotep)
Jacqueline is certified in Kemetic yoga, trained in the Yoga Skills Method by Master Yirser Ra Hotep in Negril, Jamaica. She combines meditation, rule of 4 breathing and geometric progression techniques to bring balance to the mind, body and spirit. Jacqueline is also a certified Reiki practitioner, her teachings include observation of our bodies subtle energies to release energetic blockages and create alignment with attributes of our inner wisdom, the Netjer. Jacqueline is incredible kids yoga instructor and a level 1 rhythmic gymnastics coach with the Canadian Coaching Association. She has 10 years of experience working with Children
Mark Callender (Ivine)
Mark is Yoga.
Raïda met with yoga during those low times of life and she immediately fell in love. Since then, she hasn't stopped practicing and pursuing this new-found spiritual path. Yoga has become for her a landmark, a guide, an addiction to some extent, although a very healthy one! She has been fortunate enough to meet with interesting professors from France, Italy, India and Canada. With a background in legal studies, she feels at ease the in-depth analysis of Iyengar yoga. Raïda has been into yoga for 12 years now, she has been certified by l'association française de yoga Iyengar in 2010.
From Montreal, Qc. Jonathan began practicing Yoga in 2011 in India. Trained by some of India’s best teachers, Sanjeev and Rajeev Kumar of Pure Ganga Yoga. He has since been accredited twice as a Yoga Teacher and is close to completing his third YTT. A Sociology graduate, a trained actor, and someone who has lost over 100 lbs (45 kgs). Jonathan understands what it takes to transform. His teaching focuses on the masks we all wear and his goal is to help you remove your own to stand in your own pure self with no filter. His classes are humoristic, human, and warm. No matter who you are or where you come from, Jonathan will always view you as a friend.
